U getting one?

After seeing the iPad presentation I have to say that I was really unimpressed and I don’t think that I’m alone in that category. I just didn’t see the use for one. I mean I have a laptop and an iPhone so what would I look like carry that thing around too. Don’t get me wrong, the device itself is nice and as far as innovation in concerned my hat is off to apple. But I didn’t think it was for me. I only thought it to be for those who have desktops and wanted something that was more portable than the MacBook Air.

But then I was looking at my wife’s situation. She has a laptop and iPhone, but she uses the iPhone for all her internet stuff (i.e. news, searches etc.). Then I thought to myself “an iPad would be perfect for her”. Instead of straining her eyes to do stuff on the iPhone she could use the iPad. Sound cool?

iPhone vs Blackberry

Lately I’ve been on the fence with these two phone over which one is a better phone for me. I have owned them both at one point and time and find myself in a bit of “the grass is greener” type of situation. I have my likes and dislikes for both so I thought that I would share them

iPhone:

Love the UI, ease of use, and the app store. Also I have a MacBook Pro so the syncing is flawless (using mobileme) for contact information as well as calender stuff. Touch screen really isn’t a problem for me either because navigating is easy for me.

Blackberry (Bold 9700)

push emails, the phone call quality, as well as BBM. Syncing with my MBP is possible, but at the same time it isn’t like mobileme with the iPhone.

Verdict

I guess that the only reason why I’m in between these two phones at the moment is because I just like aura that blackberry’s have. To me it says “business” and I like that. iPhone doesn’t quite say that, but at the same time I don’t think that it’s marketed to be that kind of phone. I know that I shouldn’t make decisions based on things like that but the thought still stays in the back of my mind.

But in the end I have to say that the iPhone gets the job done for me. Here’s why. That’s all I have to carry with me to have whatever I want at my disposal. For example, taking a road trip I could just bring the iPhone and I have my iPod, a phone, a way to surf the internet as well as check email, and games to play as well. These things can also be done on the blackberry, but it isn’t as clean to me. So iPhone it is

You think your traffic is bad.....

So my wife’s mom came in today into Paris CDG @ around 8am. We leave at 7am to make sure that we are on time. Long story short there was traffic about 30 miles outside of Paris and turns a 1hr trip into a 4:30hr trip. Then when we get into we get into Paris and it’s stop and go traffic through the whole city. There are no lane markers so it’s really get in where you fit in over here. Arrive in Paris at 11am leave and get back home at 10:45 at night. Not cool

Being a Father 2 months later

Ok so my son is born and growing at a crazy crazy rate. To be honest, you can’t really prepare to be a parent. It just hits you and you got to roll with the punches. The first 2 months were a definite test. Juggling playing ball, sleep, and helping out my wife the best that I can. Very trying. Wouldn’t trade it for the world though. The person that I really feel bad for is my wife because she is on food duty, so she really doesn’t get any sleep at all. Every time baby wakes up to eat, one way or the next she has to get up. But I guess that’s a day in the life from now on out.

Find my iPhone

How nice is this application add-on. Locate your iPhone where ever it is at. Now all we have to do is get it to work in airplane mode (don’t know exactly how to do that) it’s definetly a great idea. Technology these days.

They can put these signs out?
Remember that.

Flex the golden pipes

Flex the golden pipes

Very funny commercial. Love it.

Very funny commercial. Love it.

finished my season in France. Good times, Good memories. Ended...

finished my season in France. Good times, Good memories. Ended the 2008-2009 season with the MVP and scoring title.
Let me give you an example. The most obvious would be using someone like Kobe or LeBron. While they are regarded and the best at what they do and that they both born with natural ability (or in LeBron’s case made- jk) it takes a lot to go out there and perform night in and night out at the highest of levels. In the case of those too, picture every night a whole teams strategy is set up to stop you and will do anything to accomplish this. To still go out there and produce the way that they do is unreal.

To put this in even more prospective look at a player like Allen Iverson. Not the biggest guy by far but still produces every night. After the the game you might see these guys with bruises, scars, ice, massages, etc. but the very next night they are out there doing it again. That’s why they get paid the big bucks, because they earn it and at the end of the day it’s about results. Not how you are feeling and not about what’s going on in your personal life. I think that on the bottom line they could care less. How are you helping this team win. When you are doing your job then everything else is all good, but if your not earning that paycheck then they will bring someone else in that will do it.

MobileMe's superniceness

I find that MobileMe is the ultimate as far as keep people’s mac and iphone in sync. Sure there are other shows in town, but for the price of it and what features are available it’s unmatched in my opinion.

One of the main reason’s why is the “push” function that syncs contacts, calenders, and mail through the cloud. That’s clutch because I only have to update on one and it pushes to the other.

And for mac users it’s the best way to sync with your phone. I’ve had a BlackBerry Bold and the sync isn’t the same. The only option to sync “efficiently” is to go the enterprise route which could be expensive. And Google has a cloud function, but it’s buggy and doesn’t work all the time. Since BlackBerry mainly works with Windows if you have a mac you don’t have many options. Enter MobileMe that syncs your mac and iPhone/iPod Touch flawlessly.

There are other features that make the $99/yr worth the price. The fact that you get a photo publishing option that uploads pics and video as well as an option for large file sharing makes it a no brainer.

To sum it up, if your an iPhone and have a Mac user get MobileMe. You’ll thank me later.

Becoming a Father

Not to long ago I found out that I was going to be a dad. It hit me that I was going to be responsible for another life and that that person is going to be dependent on me for everything from advice to how to do things. It kind of scared me because it is the biggest responsibility that one could have. Helping shape the mind of a young one so that they can grow to be a positive person.

Then other thoughts started to come to me. I started to notice the world around me. How the media effected people’s outlook on certain issues and situations. The thought occurred to me. What I want and don’t want my child being exposed to, what’s right and what’s wrong, how should explain certain situations when the time comes. Things that I wouldn’t normally think about became a necessity for me.

I really understand why my dad did the things that he did as far as teaching me responsibility and what not. I remember my friends not wanting to come over because I always had work to do around the house. It used to be a pain, but now I understand. It help shaped me into the person that I am today.

All an all I feel that no one is really ready for it until it happens but when it happens you feel that you are ready. Be a man and take responsiblity
